Blender is an all-in-one free and open source 3D modeling program that allows you to model, sculpt, rig, animate, run physics simulations, render, composite, and even draw and paint all in one application.

  • Modeling: Blender includes cutting-edge 3D modeling tools to help you model faster.
  • Sculpting: In addition to polygonal modeling, Blender also has a robust sculpting toolset that includes 20 different brush types, multi-resolution sculpting, dynamic topology, and mirroring.
  • Drawing: With Blender’s Grease Pencil tool, you can draw and paint directly in your 3D viewport, making it easy to transition between 2D and 3D graphics. The tool can be used to create motion graphics, 2D animation, cut-out animation, and even used for storyboarding.
  • Rendering: Blender includes two rendering engines out of the box: Evee, a quick, physically-based rendering engine that allows you to preview your models and scenes in real-time, and Cycles, a powerful ray-traced rendering engine that creates stunning realistic rendering.
  • Animation: Bring your characters and stories to life with Blender’s extensive animation toolset, which includes a character animation pose editor, Non Linear Animation for independent movements, forward and inverse kinematics, a robust set of rigging tools, shape keys, motion paths, and much more.
  • VFX: With a built-in compositor, you can post-produce your renders directly in Blender. The multi-threaded compositor features a library of nodes for creating camera effects, color grading, vignettes and more.
  • Physics Simulation: Use Blender’s powerful simulation tools to bring your vision to life with realistic smoke, fire, fluids, hair, cloth, rigid bodies, and particles simulation.
  • Video Editing: Blender includes a built-in video sequence editor that allows you to cut and splice videos, mix audio, and even apply video masking and color grading.
  • Customizable UI and Hotkeys: Blender lets you customize your UI fully, from simply rearranging the panels, to fully changing the layout with Python scripting. If you’re coming to Blender from another 3D application such as Autodesk Maya, you also have the option to select the industry compatible hotkey preset from the Keymap menu.
  • Python Scripting and Extensions: With Blender’s large community of contributors, you can download a plethora of add-ons created by the community to significantly speed up your workflow, or you can write your own using the extensive Python API.
